Which colors are available?

The primary focus of my leather products is premium quality, ensuring durability, softness, and a luxurious feel on both sides. I’ve spent over two years testing various leathers to find the perfect match. Currently the selected colors include:

  • Natural (light blond): Ages beautifully, much like traditional school bag leather, darkening over time to a rich cognac hue with sun exposure.
  • Brown: Timelessly earthy. Slightly thicker leather than the other colors.
  • Black: A classic choice for elegance.
  • Olive Green: Combines premium quality with a unique personal touch.

Each piece is crafted to age gracefully, gaining character while maintaining its high-end appeal.

Can I request a custom color?

If you have a specific color preference not listed, send me a message. The quality of the leather is my non-negotiable priority hence I can check if your color is available in the leather I work with.

Why is there some darker color at the edge of the natural colored straps?

This is part of the artisanal production process. All straps have beveled edges so they don't feel sharp. They are also polished for a silky feel against the skin. The varied darker color at the edges is due to the polishing material combined with heat. It's the same for the darker straps, but there you can't see this. This process is labor intensive but it's what makes it the extension of your handmade instrument; both in comfort and also in look.

Are all colors the same leather?

All leathers are of the same type and quality.

However the darker brown is slightly thicker. It's also very soft, but as it's slightly thicker it has another feel over the shoulder than the other colors. All colors are suited for heavier instruments, but some might prefer a thicker leather to equal the feel of heavier instruments as the bass sax or contrabass clarinet.

Black, natural and olive green are the defaults. These default colors feel like silk that weightlessly folds around the shoulder. Choose one of these colors if you want the strap feel to 'disappear', and choose darker brown if you want to feel the strap in a nice way.

What are the sizes of the harnesses?

Both harness models are one size fits all, designed for both saxophone/clarinet and guitar/bass players. Adjustable straps ensure a comfortable fit for all ages and body types.

What if the size doesn’t work for me?

If the standard size doesn’t fit, contact me and we’ll find a solution. Custom fitting is available if needed. If you anticipate sizing issues, please let me know in advance by adding a comment to your order or sending me a message

Are there other instrument harnesses in development?

Currently, no new harness models are in the pipeline. However, the existing designs are versatile and can be adapted for other instruments with minor modifications. If you have a specific request, feel free to share your ideas with me!

Can I custom order a product?

I'm always happy to find a solution that makes you play worry free! Contact me at sam@desakre.com to discuss your needs. Most importantly, please explain the problem you want to get solved. We'll work together to create something unique and functional.

Will the sax/clarinet harness hook fit my instrument?

Yes! The hook is designed to fit all instrument hook rings, including those on bass clarinets. If it fits a bass clarinet, it fits anything. To be honest, I did a serious search to find the best (as in ergonomically, safe, durable, and universal) hook there is. Would it aesthetically look better in solid brass just like the other hardware? Yes I admit, but there's a reason it's only available in this material, and it's a hook I found in the defence industry... says it all I guess :-).

Can I remove the closing part of the hook?

Yes, the closing part can be removed with a small screwdriver. This makes attaching and detaching your instrument quicker, although you do get used to the closing part very quickly so you might give it a try. If you remove it, you can always reattach it later if needed.

Why don’t you use traditional hooks that turn?

For safety and durability. Traditional hooks with moving parts can weaken over time and or more at risk for metal fatigue. I use only solid materials designed to last a lifetime.

Do I need to maintain the leather?

To ensure the leather maintains its premium feel, I recommend annual maintenance using transparent leather balm. All leather is pre-treated for durability, but proper care will extend its life and beauty just as you would do with premium leather shoes.

Will the leather color change over time?
  • Natural leather: Yes, it darkens beautifully with direct sun exposure, aging into a cognac/brown-ish shade.
  • Other colors: Black, dark natural, and olive green remain stable over time.

This natural aging is a testament to the authentic craftsmanship behind these harnesses.

Are spare parts available?

Most parts are securely fixed, and the leather is highly durable. However, if you ever need repairs or replacements, reach out and I’ll provide a solution.

How long does delivery take?
  • If the harness is in stock: Orders are shipped as soon as possible, often the same day.
  • If the harness needs to be crafted: Production typically starts quickly, depending on the waiting list.
  • If delays exceed a week (e.g., due to leather supply or holidays), I’ll notify you upfront or via the website.
Are the harnesses difficult to adjust?

The harnesses offer more adjustment options than traditional designs. They’re easy to set up initially, but allow for fine-tuning over time when you are getting use to the subtle differences. This way you will achieve a perfect fit and ultimate comfort.

Are the harnesses patented?

All harness designs are patent pending.

Are the online colors accurate?

I use unfiltered images to represent the leather as accurately as possible. However, slight variations may occur due to lighting and screen settings.

Are all colors always available?

As long as the leather is in stock, the standard colors will be available. Occasionally, I craft limited-edition colors in small batches (fewer than 10 pieces). These will be noted on the website when available.

Are the harnesses handmade?

Yes, every harness is handcrafted in Belgium with exceptional attention to detail. While each one is made to premium quality standards, no two are ever identical like factory-made products. This uniqueness is the true charm of artisan craftsmanship. Rest assured, every harness undergoes a thorough visual inspection and is carefully tested to ensure perfection before it is shipped.
